Derek Olson
Derek is the founder, or closest thing to, of Dirty Sprocket. In his normal life Derek works for TDG Communications, a full-service marketing firm in Deadwood, SD. He is a Digital Media designer which just means he gets paid to do what he loves. In his free time, what little there is, he directs plays, writes and watches way more movies and TV than he should.
Sorry if the title is unclear, I've just always wanted to say Electric Boogaloo in a post. This post is in fact a review of both 'The Hurt Locker' and 'Moon.' So these reviews are quite removed from the release of these movies, the reason is two-fold. Firsty our area sometimes is devoid of good quality smaller movies. This isn't always the case, every once in a while we get movies like 'Up in the Air' or 'Precious' but more often than not we just get a deluge of shitty movies in every theater. The second reason is I saw both of these the night they came out on DVD, I just was lazy in getting my post up.
Gotta be honest, the only reason I rented this one was because the 'Flight of the Conchords' guys were in it. That's about the only reason, saw the trailer and there they were. Why not rent it? Better get the disclaimer out right away about this one, Bret McKenzie, Rhys Darby and Jemaine Clement are all in the movie but that was order of screen time right there. Jemaine is in the first sequence and never shows up again. Rhys plays a doctor at the beginning and end and that's about it. Brett is around quite a bit, not the main character though. All the Conchord guys were hilarious, but so was the movie.
It's finally back, fresh off being named my top show of 2009, 'Chuck' returns for Season 3. I'm sure they were very honored by mentioned in a Dirty Sprocket blog.
Dammit I'm with COCO! You should all be with COCO too. If you don't know what this means, you are a fool. Not really, but you will know now.
I love me some football, love it. I mentioned this in my last post, it's worth mentioning it again. I love watching football. Now a couple of weeks ago I caught a Facebook discussion on a friend's page. It was discussing how they didn't dig the NFL. That's cool, to each his own. Then other people started chirping in and talking about how pathetic NFL fans were. That got me a little. Sure there are people out there who do take it too seriously and look ridiculous, but that is quite a broad statement. Especially the rational many gave for this theory was the fact there was no drama to it like a good movie or book.
