Chew on This 2

chew 2Chew 2: International Flavor is a great follow up to the first installment of the series by Rod Guillory and John Layman.  There is always some apprehension when dealing with a bold idea like Chew.  Especially one includes poultry bans, vampires and food based superpowers.

Tony gets a “new” partner and sets off on the trail of a strange  fruit that is being used as a chicken substitute and the stakes get higher as he finds himself face to face with the scariest villain of the series thus far.  Chew 2 rewards audiences by expanding the stories Universe messing with the reader’s expectations.  The story evolves, some characters enter and others leave (often in messy ways).

Chew feels it has been planned in detail.  This isn’t like Lost where the creators were clearly making stuff up as they went along.  Chew has a nice balance so far; taking care of old business while weaving new threads.

The best stories take their audiences out of their comfort zone and give them something that is unpredictable.  Chew 2: International Flavor accomplishes this and then some.  I for one am ready for another helping.
